Mechanism of action of meropenem
The drug inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. The drug rapidly penetrates into the cell wall of most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
Pharmacokinetics of meropenem
The drug is distributed in most tissues of the body and CSF. The drug is only 2% bound to plasma proteins. The half-life in adults and children over 2 years is 1 hour and in children 3 months to 2 years 1.5 hours.
Contraindications:
In case of severe allergy to any of the beta-lactam drugs, the use of this drug is prohibited
