Evening primrose, scientifically known as OENOTHERA BIENNIS, is a plant that grows in North America and is brought to Europe and parts of Asia. Medicinal properties of this oil have long been known and used topically orally. Evening primrose oil is one of the omega 6 acids and mainly contains linoleic acid, gamma-linolenic acid, oleic acid and palmitic acid. Gamma-linolenic acid is converted to prostaglandin E1 in the body, which has anti-inflammatory and cell membrane stabilizing effects in the body.
