Mechanism of action of linagliptin
It inhibits the mechanism of incretin by inhibiting dipeptidyl peptidase 4, thereby increasing insulin synthesis and release and decreasing glucagon levels.
Pharmacokinetics of linagliptin
The metabolism of this drug is hepatic and it is a substrate of CYP3A4 and P-gP.
The main excretion of linagliptin is through the feces and its half-life is 12 hours.
