Indications
Pamidronate is an aminobis phosphonate with general properties similar to other bisphosphonates and inhibits bone resorption but appears to have less effect on bone mineralization than comparable doses of etidornate. Sodium pamidorant is used as an adjunct therapy in severe hypercalcemia, especially when associated with malignancy. It is also used to treat osteolytic lesions and bone pain in multiple myeloma or bone metastases from breast cancer. It may be used in bone disorders with extensive bone resorption, as seen in Paget’s disease.
