Indications
Vancomycin is used in limited cases, including in the prevention and treatment of endocarditis and other serious infections caused by gram-positive cocci (such as penicillin-resistant staphylococci). Oral vancomycin is not effective in treating systemic infections, but it is used orally in the treatment of antibiotic-induced pseudomembranous colitis.
