Indications
Non-sedative antihistamine (H1 receptor antagonist).
Fexofenadine, an active metabolite of terfenadine and a non-sedative antihistamine, has no strong antimuscarinic or sedative activity. It is used as hydrochloride in the symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions such as seasonal allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria. This drug is administered orally at a dose of 120 mg per day as a single dose or in two divided doses. Children 6 to 11 years of age are given 30 mg doses twice daily in the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis.
